The Skinny Muzungu Project
So I started this project I think back in 2015 or 2016, some time after J was born. I needed to lose weight and wanted to do Slimming World again, but found that my membership had expired… probably something to do with shifting 7,000 miles away from the UK!
I did manage to lose the weight and get back to my optimum size, shape and weight by some point in 2016 as I’ve just discovered a photo from M’s birthday that year where I look lovely. J was by then about 15 months old, and I know I fasted 40 days at the start of 2016 which had the inadvertent advantage of cutting kilos!
2016 Christmas is when I went back to the UK to visit the Peas and wider family and friends. 2017 was the hideous year when everything fell apart and I was in hospital a lot. The meds from Nov 2016-June 2018 caused huge weight gain. At one stage last year I fasted for 100 days (eating one small meal in the evenings) and merely maintained the horrible weight. I didn’t lose even one measly half ounce. Then I was pregnant with Z, and since her birth I’ve lost 1 stone without any programme. I rejoined SW five weeks ago, and have lost a further 1 stone!!!! Yippee!! I still have 3 and a half stone to lose, but the mere fact that it’s coming off is amazing and so encouraging. Especially seeing as I can’t access all my SW staples here.
So I’m going for it again. I’m sick of people’s horrible comments. As if they’d recover so well if they ever had 6 kids. And of course, they never will know, because they ain’t gonna have six kids!!! I haven’t yet had an opportunity to try out my new phrase of: ‘I’d be embarrassed to be as rude as you’ , or the one my new friend Jess shared yesterday: ‘Oh, I’m under Christ; I’m not under culture!’ … seriously juicy! Maybe y’all should pray for me to learn grace… but I don’t actually think I should put up with people’s abusive comments (there have been plenty).
Then I’m in a play soon… wearing a white t shirt which is utterly unflattering. But I’m putting myself out there again because I need the stage. Because I need to avoid inertia. Because there’s more to me than anyone’s yet seen (no, I don’t mean flab). So even if it means being fat and potentially being ridiculed, I think it’s worth it. Plus I’m in character, so it isn’t actually me wearing that white shirt. And come Easter, I just might be at target.
Ok. Enough rambling! This is really just to help me start turning up at the page again. Maybe with time I’ll share the last five years. I also want the accountability of having stated my goals. Maybe I’ll upload that inspirational pic…

Skinny Winn. This is what I’m going for again. Incidentally, that was an amazing chocolate cake… I make the best. Mmm… choccy cake… you can see the problem…
