Well, apparently “they” say it takes 21 days to form a habit. I haven’t written for 21 days… But that was already unfortunately a habit. I’m typing on my phone whilst sitting next to the baby who’s happily playing and chomping everything in sight (teeth on the way), in the same room as the next two up who are home from school coughing. And coughing. And coughing. Can’t figure out how to create a new paragraph without starting a new post… So this will just be written as one continuous thought! And maybe that’s fitting anyway, seeing as I don’t get an uninterrupted moment to write anyway. Life in this phase feels very much like one long paragraph (pause for instruction regarding spilled squash) which never quite sits in comfortable alignment. Once one issue is dealt with, or something major is arranged/ bought/ finalised/ sorted, ooh look, here comes the next task to resolve. There doesn’t seem to be an end to the walls that need hurdling over (and I am not a hurdler). I do my best to overcome obstacles and tackle problems… I don’t get paid for this. I don’t get paid for my expertise and experience… So I guess this is a high five to all the stay at home parents out there who understand how this is. Many times this stream of consciousness drivel is all I can do… But it’s like rocking a car that’s gotten stuck in a rut; do it enough times and eventually it will be free. If I just turn up at the page enough times consistently (there’s the rub), I will inevitably and eventually get back in motion.
