I don’t like cockroaches
In the bathroom
On the stair
…in fact,
Just anywhere.

I do like the sound
Of wind in the banana leaves.
I like the feel of rain on my hair
And hail
On my face
Even though it stings a bit sometimes.

I like Christmas
And I don’t think it should be warm.
I think it should always be
Associated
With thick socks and warm scarves
And crunching through snowy quiet woods.

I love raspberries.
Their understated sweetness, sudden fragrance, gentle pulp…
And then they’re gone; just a soft stain to remind my fingers
Of their presence.

I love Wales.
The beach.
The hills.
The wild, cold waves.
Seagulls squealing.
Ice creams in the rain.
Silence and memories.
