Jagger Fox
Reposes
Nonchalant to the heavy dawn

He knows
How rain
Will bedraggle feathers
Distract hen minds
Disarm their beady eyes

His pounce comes
Suddenly
Abrupt in the sky water
Startling
Interrupting
Their roosting alarms

Later
In innocent sunlight
Earth steaming
Feathers scattered
Entrails
Dirty smear
The only clue
Upon the new earth
